PREMIER ANNA BLIGH WAS RE-ELECTED IN HER OWN RIGHT LAST NIGHT AS QUEENSLAND PREMIER, TO BECOME THE FIRST ELECTED FEMALE PREMIER.
JOAN KIRNER AND CARMEL LAWRENCE BOTH BECAME PREMIERS AFTER TAKING THE REINS MID TERM BUT LOST SUBSEQUENT ELECTIONS. THE WIN ALSO GIVES LABOR A RECORD 5TH TERM AND SEES THE END OF PAULINE HANSEND, WHO POLLED THIRD IN HER ELECTORATE AND HAS PROMISED TO GIVE UP POLITICS, AND LAST REMAINING ONE NATION MEMBER ALSO LOST THEIR SEAT.
